Petition Filed to Recall Flint Mayor Karen Weaver

According to a news release from Genesee County Clerk John Gleason, a petition has been filed to recall Flint Mayor Karen Weaver.

The news release goes on to say that an election commission meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th at 8 a.m. in a court room at the Genesee County Circuit Courthouse.

The purpose of that meeting "is to determine whether the reason(s) for recall stated in the petition is or is not of sufficient clarity and factual basis to enable the officer whose recall is sought and the electors to identify the course of conduct which is the basis for the recall."

Mlive says the petition was filed by a Flint resident, Alex Harris, who is seeking to remove Weaver for failure to pay her water bill and pushing for the hiring of a trash hauler that is now under federal investigation.
