The City of Flint has announced a new deadline for submission of petitions for those interested in serving on the Charter Review Commission. According to a news release from the City of Flint, after speaking with state election officials, the deadline for candidates to submit petitions is Tuesday, January 20th with the election to be held on May 5, 2015. Updated petitions will be available at the Flint City Clerk's office, however, petitions already in circulation with the old dates will still be accepted. Petitions must be submitted to the Flint City Clerk's office with a minimum of 316 valid signatures from City of Flint registered voters. Residents are able to sign up to nine individual candidate's petitions, only signing each petition once. After the January 20th filing, all residents who have met the criteria will have their names placed on the ballot for the May 5th election.
