Penalty Causes Pavin Share of Lead at U.S. Senior Open at Indianwood
Corey Pavin took a two-stroke penalty after he completed his first round of the 2012 U.S. Senior Open Championship on Thursday.
Being held at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion, Pavin had just shot five-under to tie Tom Kite for the lead. According to the Detroit Free Press, Pavin was taken to a television truck where he was showed by USGA officials that his ball moved slightly before he hit it on hole number five. Pavin had addressed the ball three times before finally chipping it onto the green and agreed when showed the video that the ball had indeed moved.
Pavin said “I think that’s what we all do as golfers; we play by the rules. We call penalties on ourselves.”
