New World Record to be Attempted at Mackinac Bridge
The Mackinac Bridge Authority (MBA) in conjunction with MINI of Grand Rapids and owners of Mini Cooper automobiles from all over the country will hold a rally and attempt to break the Guiness World Record for largest parade on MINI's in August.
MBA Administrator Bob Sweeney said "we gladly support this attempt at a new world record highlighting Michigan's iconic Mackinac Bridge."
The MINI rally will take place on Saturday, August 3rd and will culminate with a mass crossing of the Mackinac Bridge, the world's third-longest suspension bridge. Sweeney said they "will do whatever we can to make their crossing safe, secure and memorable -as they attempt to break the Guiness World Record."
The current world record for the most Mini Coopers in a parade is 1,450. The MBA and event planners encourage all MINI owners to use social media and other methods to spread the word. More information is available online at the MINI of Grand Rapids Facebook page.
