A new FBI report shows that almost every type of crime is down in Flint this year compared to 2010.

According to Mlive, in the first half of 2011, the city reported 909 instances of violent crime. That is a 19% drop from the 1,123 instances reported by the same time in 2010.

The report showed there were 22 homicides, down from 27 last year; 41 forcible rapes, compared to 51 last year; and 229 robberies, compared to 274 last year.

The only category that showed an increase was motor vehicle theft. There were just over 400 instances as of June compared to just under 300 at the same time in 2010.

Overall, Flint's crime numbers reflect a trend seen around the country. The FBI reports that violent crimes reported throughout the nation in the first six months of 2011 declined 6.4% when compared with figures from last year.
