New legislation being proposed would require casinos to withhold winnings for overdue child support.

According to WNEM, state legislators are considering a bill that would require casinos to check and see of big winners owe child support. If a person is found to owe, the amount from their winnings would go straight to friend of the court, and if that is less than the winnings, the person would then pocket the leftover cash. The measure - approved by a state House committee last week - is being called the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act.

The legislation would not have an effect on Native American casinos, however, state legislators said they would encourage those to adopt similar measures.
