Mythbusters Stunt Sends Cannonball Through Homes
According to CBS Los Angeles, a Mythbusters TV show experiment went wrong and sent a cast iron cannonball rocketing through two homes before landing in a minivan.
The hosts of the Discovery Channel show, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, were reportedly trying to figure out how fast a cannonball would travel, when it misfired and shot hundreds of feet in the air. The cannonball was supposed to go through barrels of water, a cinder block wall, and ultimately end up in the side of a hill.
Instead the cannonball flew over the foothills surrounding Camp Parks Military Firing Reservation before spiraling back toward Dublin like a cruise missile and through the front door of an area home. It then bounced around like a pinball before the wayward ball made its way to the next home and ultimately ended up in the minivan.
No one was injured in the mishap. Officials said Mythbusters had been using the firing reservation for the last eight years for similar experiments, but none had gone awry.
