Motorists to See Increase in Gas Prices After Holidays

State motorists will pay 8.9 cents more for gas this week according to a new report from AAA Michigan. The current statewide average is $3.407 per gallon, which is 27.5 cents more then the same time last year.

The average price for self serve regular rose 6.2 cents in Metro Detroit over the past week, with the average at $3.379 per gallon. That price is 25.6 cents higher than the same time last year.

Current gas prices in Flint are right around the same amount as the statewide average at $3.40 per gallon. Prices in Flint are up from last week when the average per gallon price was $3.29 per gallon. Gas prices in Flint averaged $3.09 at the same time last year.
