A Goodrich High School student is raising awareness for alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss. Emily Koon has lost her hair from the condition and now wants to raise awareness by selling hats. The hats have the Goodrich High School mascot on the front and on the back the message that Emily is trying to spread. Bald is beautiful. The fundraiser is part of her senior capstone project. She posted this on her Facebook page.

The hats cost $20, and all the proceeds will go to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. According to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation website, it is a common autoimmune disease causing hair loss on the scalp, face, and other areas of the body. The disease affects as many as 6.8 million people in the US. Emily wants everyone to know that she, and the other 6.8 million people affected by this disease are beautiful bald.
