Michigan's Heat Awareness Day is this Wednesday and the Genesee County Health Department wants to make sure you stay safe in the hot weather.

The Genesee County Health Department (GCHD) is reminding everyone that prevention is the best defense against heat-related illnesses, and by keeping cool, you and your family lessen the risk of becoming a victim of a heat related illness such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

The following tips are important for hot summer days:

  • Stay hydrated.
  • Wear appropriate clothing.
  • Limit physical activities.
  • Pace yourself.
