We think the most shocking part is that the kid is SIX-YEARS-OLD.

28-year-old Brittany Ann Horton of Twin Lake, Michigan, was sentenced to five days in jail after her child racked up 26 unexcused absences from school. She plead guilty to truancy.

The Muskegon County Prosecutor started the Operation Graduation program a few years back, which aims to combat truancy amongst students in the school system by holding their parents accountable.

Parents are first contacted for an "intervention" after 9 unexcused absences. Even after Ms. Horton was charged, her child missed two more weeks of school.

Does anybody else think that she should spend the same amount of days in jail that her kid missed?
