U.S. Representative John Dingell has announced he will not seek re-election and will retire at the end of current term. According to the Detroit Free Press, the 87-year-old Dingell said he made the decision because "it was time" and partially because of the partisan gridlock. Dingell, a Democrat from Dearborn, replaced his father in the House of Representatives some 58 years ago and became the longest-serving member of Congress last June.
