New York Mets Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter passed away yesterday. The 57 year-old had been battling an aggressive form of brain cancer since last year. Carter had begun to forget things, ask questions repeatedly and lacked energy. Doctors discovered four small tumors when he went in to be checked.

Carter was a member of the 1986 World Series champion Mets. According to ESPN, he was an 11 time All Star in his 19 year career. He retired in 1991 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2003.
