Thinking about taking a few days off for the Fourth of July holiday? If your plans involve a plane ticket, travel experts say now’s the best time to buy.

Data compiled by Travelocity indicates you’ll get the cheapest fare if you book three weeks out, and that’s today — Wednesday, June 13.

On average, a round-trip domestic fare for the holiday will set you back $391, but if you book three weeks in advance, that drops to $342. Procrastinators who wait until the week before the big day will pay about 20 percent more, or $412.

“The good news is many of the top U.S. destinations are below the average ticket price,” said Courtney Scott, Travelocity’s senior editor, who added booking vacation packages could also help offset rising airfare.

So what are the most popular July 4th destinations in America? Here are the top five, along with their average round-trip airfares:

1. New York City: $337

2. Las Vegas: $365

3. Orlando: $316

4. Los Angeles: $364

5. Denver: $314
