ITT Technical Institute has served our community for over 50 years, but today they announced they will cease operations all all ITT locations.

In a statement released today by ITT Technical Institute, they said "The actions of and sanctions from the U.S. Department of Education have forced us to cease operations of the ITT Technical Institutes, and we will not be offering our September quarter. We reached this decision only after having exhausted the exploration of alternatives, including transfer of the schools to a non-profit or public institution."

ITT employed more than 8,000 workers, most of those employees lost their jobs effective today. The few workers still employed will focus on helping the displaced students with their records and future educational plans.  ITT stopped enrolling new students last week, after the US Department of Educations barred students using financial aid from enrolling. ITT had been under investigation by the state and federal government for not being in compliance with accreditation standards.
