A portion of I-75 in Michigan will be named to honor a slain Navy Seal according to a news release from Governor Snyder's office.

Snyder signed legislation on Monday renaming I-75 in Genesee County for Flushing Township native John Wayne "Dusty" Marcum who took part in 12 overseas missions since 2001. Marcum had joined the Navy in 1991 after graduating from Flushing High School. He died from injuries sustained in a September 2008 battle.

Marcum had already been awarded a number of combat awards including two Silver Stars and four Bronze Stars.
