State Senator John Gleason (D-Flushing) and his wife Karen will be among the first of Michigan residents to purchase the new Gift of License plate when they go on sale Monday morning through the Secretary of State.

Gleason, a transplant recipient himself, was the sponsor of the legislation that created the fundraising plates. Ten dollars from the sale of each plate will go to the new Thomas Daley Gift of Life Fund which will be used to promote organ, tissue and eye donation, and the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.

The Gleasons will pick up the plates at the Michigan Secretary of State Branch Office on Fenton Road in Flint.
