The Genesys Diabetes and Nutrition Learning Center is offering a three-day course on the prevention of diabetes.

'Preventing Diabetes' will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on May 22, June 5 and June 19.

If you answer "yes" to any one or more of the following questions, you may be at risk for diabetes and can benefit from the class:

 

 

 

  • Are you overweight?
  • Are you older then 45?
  • Do you have high blood pressure?
  • Do you have high cholesterol?
  • Do you have a family member w/diabetes?

Topics covered in the class include: understanding the implications of elevated blood sugar, risk factors of diabetes and learning how to reduce them, lifestyle changes and choices, nutrition, snacking and eating out, benefits pf physical activity, identifying cues that impact food and activity decisions, and obstacles to maintaining a lifestyle that will prevent diabetes.

The classes are being held at the Genesys Diabetes and Nutrition Learning Center, located on the Genesys Regional Medical Center - Health Park Campus in Grand Blanc (inside the Genesys Athletic Club complex). Cost is $35.
