The Genesys Family Birthing Center staff wants to make sure first time parents are as prepared as possible for the birth of their new baby.

Jill Croteau, a registered nurse and childbirth educator at Genesys, says "when parents return home with their newborn, often they realize they have many unanswered questions and concerns." She continued "we have learned through working with new parents that the best teaching moments may not be in the hospital after their child is born."

Genesys offers "Safety and Prevention," for expectant parents and new parents. The free class covers many topics of concern for new parents including: SIDS, car seat safety, safe feeding practices, toy safety and much more.

The next class is this evening from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Genesys Regional Medical Center's Health Park campus, located in Grand Blanc Township.

To sign up for the class, call (810) 606-5897.
