A Genesee County sheriff's deputy has been charged and arraigned in the alleged shooting of his child's mother. According to MLive, 28-year-old Raymond DeSisto Jr. of Flushing was charged with discharge of firearm without malice causing injury. Police responded to a call of a domestic incident on Bellewood Drive around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. A 25-year-old woman had suffered a single gunshot wound to her left calf and was transported to Hurley Medical Center for treatment. Authorities say the shooting occurred after the victim and DeSisto had been arguing. DeSisto had retrieved a gun from another room in the house during the argument and it eventually went off and struck the victim. Both DeSisto and the victim had been drinking at the time of the argument. The misdemeanor charge against DeSisto - a five-year correctional deputy -  carries a maximum sentence of one year and $500 fine. He has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of an investigation.
