Genesee County Commissioner Omar Sims and Genesee County Friend of the Court Director John Battles have partnered to hold March Madness-style events that will assist residents in responsibly dealing with their child support and parenting time issues.

Topics at the four events or "rounds" will include payments to address active bench warrants, motion practice, options to take control of outstanding child support including past due charges and overdue support, and a new program to resolve moneys owed to the state. According to a news release from Battles and Sims, no one in attendance at any of the following events will be arrested on any Friend of the Court bench warrants.

The events days and times are:

  • Thursday, March 6 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Second Chance Church located at 1950 Burr Blvd in Flint
  • Thursday, March 13 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at New Jerusalem Church located at 1035 E. Carpenter Rd in Flint
  • Thursday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at Fenton Township Hall located at 12060 Mantawauka Drive in Fenton Township
  • Thursday, March 27 at 2 p.m. at the Friend of the Court office located in the Genesee County Administration Building located at 1101 Beach Street in Flint.
