Genesee County Controller George Martini has been asked to resign his position by Board of Commissioners Chairman Jaime Curtis, or be fired according to Mlive. Martini told commissioners today that he and Curtis had met this morning. He was told that there were unspecified problems in the news $80.6 million budget for the fiscal year that commissioners just adopted last month. Curtis didn't speak about the issue after the meeting, only to say there was a "laundry list" of problems. Martini told commissioners Curtis asked him to resign because of the "quality of the budget numbers." Martini said he won't resign and thus will force the nine member commission to back Curtis or their top financial officer in what could be an open hearing as soon as next week.
