With number one Indiana getting knocked off earlier this week, the top spot in the next men’s basketball poll is ripe for the taking.

Second-ranked Gonzaga is in line to become the nation’s top team, but it will have to avoid a pitfall tonight when it travels to Brigham Young. Gonzaga has never been the number one team, so there’s a lot on the line for the WCC school, even if the tournament wasn’t a few weeks away. BYUhas already notched 20 wins on the season, but would like a big win over the Bulldogs to beed up their tourney resume.

Duke can also stake its claim for the top spot and will also be on the road tonight to make its case when it heads to Charlottesville to take on Virginia. Like BYU, UVA also harbors tournament aspirations and would like nothing more than to take down the Blue Devils.
