A free child fingerprinting event is being held this Saturday at Burlington Coat Factory in Flint Township. According to Officer Tanya Meeks of the Flint Police Department, the benefits of fingerprinting cannot be denied. "A lost child may not be able to tell law enforcement who their parents are, where they live or even a phone number where a parent can be reached," said Meeks in an email. She added "having a fingerprint record allows a parent to provide it to law enforcement and when a lost child is found, fingerprints can be taken and compared to those provided by parents" leading to a successful reunion. The event is hosted by Burlington Coat Factory, the Flint Police Department, Flint Township Police Department and the Michigan State Police. Fingerprinting will be available from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. for kids between two and 16 years-old. Burlington Coat Factory is located at 3285 South Linden Road in Flint Township.
