Former Detroit Tiger catcher Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez is set to announce his retirement on Monday according to Sports Illustrated.

The 40-year-old Rodriguez spent 21 seasons in the majors, four of those coming with Detroit. Rodriguez came to Detroit at a time when many other high-profile free agents wouldn't. He and the Tigers made it to the World Series in 2006 where they lost to St. Louis.

Rodriguez was a 14-time All Star and won the 1999 American League MVP when he was with the Texas Rangers, a team he was with for the first 12 years of his career.

According to SI, he finishes with a .296 career batting average, just shy of 2,900 hits, just over 300 home runs and 1,332 RBI's. Rodriguez had spent the last two seasons with the Washington Nationals.
