Former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land has filed paperwork to enter the Republican U.S. Senate primary in 2014.

Land announced her intentions to run for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Carl Levin on June 3rd. She says she'll spend the next several months listening to voters across the state and that the "public deserve better from Washington."

Meanwhile, U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, a Democrat, has announced he has close to $2 million on hand for the race. According to WNEM, Peters has raised more than $1 million since entering the race on May 1st.
