Flint's Bishop International Airport has been named "Airport of the Year" at the 2014 Michigan Airport Conference. The annual conference is put on by the Michigan Association of Airport Executives. The award for "Airport of the Year" recognizes excellence in service to the aviation community and Bishop was commended for their continuous improvements to the airport. Improvements that were recognized included safety, preservation and expansion projects, rehabilitation of the terminal apron and taxiway improvements, and the final terminal building expansion.
