Flint School District Lays Off 21, Recalls 51 Others
The Flint School District’s board of education met on Wednesday night. Fifty teachers and an assistant principal were recalled in the meeting. Twenty-one other staff were laid off.
According to MLive, budget reduction was cited for the layoffs.
Of the new layoffs, twelve are non-teaching, non-clerical positions. The other nine were personnel including paraprofessionals, secretaries and clerks.
The measure was approved by a 7-1 vote. Board member David Davenport cast the dissenting vote.
