Flint Police Dept. to Post Prostitution Suspect Names, Photos on Facebook
The City of Flint Police Department has announced that it will begin posting the names and arrest photos of arraigned prostitution suspects on their Facebook page. According to a news release from the City of Flint, the department has the option of sharing the information since arrest records are public. In a statement, Flint Police Chief James Tolbert said the effort is meant to deter would-be offenders from engaging in prostitution activity. "When we look at ways to curb this type of activity, being a visible presence and simply making the arrests isn't enough of a deterrent, " said Tolbert. "What we believe will be effective is the notification to the public which may have repercussions for offenders who are engaged in a crime that is secretive by nature." Citizens can expect to see regular postings of the names and pictures of those arrested this week at www.facebook.com/flintpolicedept.
