The City of Flint's 1st annual Commit to Fit! wellness challenge kicks off next week. The month-long challenge encourages Flint and Genesee County residents to practice healthy behaviors and also become more involved in their community.

Commit to Fit! and City of Flint Mayor Dayne Walling are calling on individuals to join the challenge, inviting residents to participate in a number of ways:

  • Online Challenge Tracking by keeping track of physical activity, servings of healthy food and monitoring weight online at www.commit2fit.com.
  • Event Participation and Support with a number of fun, healthy events that will be held throughout Flint and Genesee County throughout the challenge, many of them led by Walling.

In a statement, Walling said "this is a great way to take advantage of a number of free, healthy activities to improve your own health and well-being. The challenge also supports the City's efforts to improve health through the Imagine Flint - Master Plan."

The Commit to Fit! Mayor's Wellness Challenge runs from April 1st - 30th and is supported by a number of partners including the Greater Flint Health Coalition, Crim Fitness Foundation, Flint Farmers Market and Genesys Athletic Club. To sign up for the challenge, visit www.commit2fit.com or visit them on Facebook.
