Flint Mayor Dayne Walling will deliver the 2014 State of the City address today in the Flint City Council Chambers at City Hall.

The theme of this year's address will be Year of Service and Action and will feature a call to action for citizens and partners to assist with implementation of the city's new Master Plan. Some of the  topic areas expected to be addressed during the speech include public safety, jobs, blight, infrastructure, governance and finances. A number if new announcements about city programs such as Love Your City month in May are also expected to be announced.

In a news release Walling said "the actions of a few individuals can have a strong impact on addressing the issues we face as a city, but that impact can be multiplied when more residents and community leaders take an active role and get involved."

Following the 3 p.m. address, there will be a citizen action fair in the lobby of City Hall where residents can get information on ways to volunteer and get involved in implementing the Master Plan.
