A jury has found Johnnie Tyrell Johnson, 31 of Flint, guilty of first degree pre-meditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony firearm third offense in the 2009 shooting death of another man outside a local nightclub.

Around 4 a.m. on June 14, 2009, Demario Dupree was walking out of Club What's Next near Pasedena Avenue and Clio Road in Flint Township when Johnson came running around the corner of the building firing shots at Dupree with an AK47 assault rifle. Dupree was struck down in the road with seven bullet rounds and died at the scene.

Testimony at trial indicated this was a retaliatory killing for another homicide that had taken place in 2006 for which Johnson felt Dupree was responsible.

Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on October 15, 2012.
