Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley announced that interviews for the new city administrator position will begin next week and will be open to the public. In a news release, Earley said applications were received for 27 candidates after a nationwide search.  To aid in the selection of the position, an advisory committee has been formed. The committee is made up of residents, community stakeholders, as well as elected and appointed city and state officials. Earley will conduct the interview process.

Interviews of finalists will be held on Wednesday, November 12th beginning at 8 a.m. in the City Council Chambers. The full interview schedule will be announced prior to the meeting date and posted on the City of Flint website here.

Following the interviews, the committee will offer their recommendations to Earley. Reference and background checks will then be done. Earley would like to the selected candidate to begin no later than the end of January 2015.

Earley, who is expected to end his appointment as Emergency Manager by April, said "this is a very critical next step in the process of eventual transition back to home rule for the City of Flint" and "we want to make sure the process is thorough, transparent , and identifies the best candidate to move the progress needle a bit further towards Flint's continued progress and accomplishments."
