Flint Emergency Manager Ed Kurtz has signed off on the new fiscal year budget which is set to begin July 1st.

When the new budget begins, 27 city workers will lose their jobs. The layoffs will come from building safety, traffic engineering, planning and general administration.

According to MLive, taxpayers in Flint will see a seven percent drop in what they pay in taxes and fees for governmental services. Property taxes will also decrease due to declining values of structures and lands. Street lighting and waste collection fees will increase by a total of $4.
