The Flint Diaper Bank has received a $2,000 from the Merkley Youth Charitable Trust to help purchase diapers for children in need in Genesee County. The trust is administered by FirstMerit Private Bank and according to a news release, it's the first time this gift has been made.

Phil Shaltz, founder of the Flint Diaper Bank, said "we have seen a remarkable outpouring of support this year. We are so thankful for the Merkley Youth Charitable Trust. They saw the need in this community and came forward to help."

Shaltz founded the Flint Diaper Bank in 2013. It supplied more than a million diapers in its first year. The diapers are then distributed through the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to struggling families in Genesee County.
