iPod capability, Bluetooth, in-car navigation, multimedia system and DVD players are kiddie play features compared to what Fiat has in store for their new 2013 Fiat 500L model. Drivers don’t want fancy gadgets while they’re driving. What do they want? Espressos. Fiat is aiming to deliver.

The new four-door 500L is a bigger version of the compact car that Jennifer Lopez pretended to be driving around her old neighborhood. Why is it bigger? To fit in all of the delicious taste one could have while making espressos before heading out to work. Right now, the feature is only being advertised in Italy, because coffee company Lavazza isn’t normally found in the United States. Whether or not they’ll expand stateside is anyone’s guess, but an espresso machine? In your car? Good grief.

Those of you worried that the guy in front of you on the freeway won’t stop turning his head to mess with something in his car need not worry. The espresso machine will only work while the car is stopped. According to the car manufacturer, “The 500L is the first standard-production car in the world to offer a true espresso coffee machine that utilises the technology of the ‘A Modo Mio’ pods. It is perfectly integrated in the car with a deck designed expressly by Fiat.”

Will we see this feature in the States this fall? Not sure. One thing the 500L will have is its choice of lawnmower engines and plenty of room for you to duck in if your guy friends see you inside of one.
