Crime in Flint in 2013 is down according to new data released from the FBI on Monday. MLive says even though Flint's population fell from 2012 to 2013, the FBI Uniform Crime Report shows that categories of overall violent crime, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries and motor thefts each fell at least 30 percent. The arson category saw the biggest drop of just over 51 percent.

The only category that didn't see a clear drop in the number of reported crimes was rape and that was partly due to how the U.S. Department of Justice defines and categorizes rape in the report.

Just last year the City of Flint dropped to the second most violent city in the U.S. for cities over 100,000. For 2013, the FBI estimated Flint's population to be just under that with 99,941.
