Additional Information

The Respite Ranch for Caregivers is hosting a Fall Color Tour fundraiser for the Nancy DeKatch Caregiver Institute, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The event is open to the public and takes place on the grounds of the Respite Ranch. The property is open to the public for this occasion only.

The Fall Color Tour event includes a guided nature trail tour, labyrinth walk with butterfly release, live music by harp musician Laurel Federbush, harvest food buffet, dessert bar and beverages. Also available are tours of the Respite Ranch, a 2-story, 6-bedroom home in the middle of a secluded 60-acre wooded natural area. The home provides a serene setting conducive to caregiver recovery and personal wellness. The Respite Ranch is an enjoyable relaxing environment for anyone who needs a little “me time” away from their stressful duties as a caregiver. The property of the Respite Ranch is handicap accessible. Please RSVP to register and to reserve your butterfly, by calling (810) 258-2066 or email nancy@ndcaregiver.com or rhchatfield@comcast.net .

The Nancy DeKatch Caregiver Institute focuses on the personal well-being of the overburdened, underpaid caregiver. This non-profit organization raises funds to assist the compassionate fatigued caregiver through educational seminars and discussion groups, and through assistance in funding, stays at the Respite Ranch. The Institute helps fund the Respite Ranch stay, as well as caregiver home care services for the care recipient to allow the caregiver some much needed respite relief. The caregiver will receive 48 hours of uninterrupted rest, relaxation and recuperation. The program also offers education, and personal wellness information and emotional support. It is designed to benefit both the caregiver and care recipient.

There are approximately 1.5 million underpaid caregivers in the state of Michigan. The goal of the Fall Color Tour, and other fundraising events, is to raise enough money to provide 500 caregivers this gift of love and appreciation for a growing population that is misunderstood.
