The Detroit Tigers lost to the Seattle Mariners last night 2-1 after another quality start by their starting pitcher.

Rookie left-hander Drew Smyly allowed only two hits and made his fifth straight, quality start according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Tigers lost the series with the Mariners and have alternated wins and losses for the month. Manager Jim Leyland said "it's simple. We're not scoring. We're supposed to score. And we will score. Right now we're not doing it."

This was the seventh straight game that went down again to the final at-bat for the Tigers. Austin Jackson drew a lead-off walk to start the ninth. Brennan Boesch then hit a smash shot, directly to Seattle shortstop Brendon Ryan who turned a double play. Miguel Cabrera then ended the night, and the series, with a broken bat fly to center.

The Tigers now travel to Oakland for the start of a four game series tonight where they'll see former teammate Brandon Inge.
