Detroit Man Who Hit 11-Year-Old Boy Severely Beaten by Crowd

A man who stopped after hitting an 11-year-old boy with his pickup truck is in critical condition, after onlookers beat the man.

Authorities in Detroit say they believe the man stopped to help the boy after striking him at about 4:10 pm Wednesday. (4/2) The accident happened at the intersection of Morang and Balfour streets.on Detroit's east side.

A large crowd of about 30 people had gathered. Police tell the Detroit Free Press that while some of the onlookers went to help the child, several people assaulted the motorist. He sustained multiple, serious head injuries that could be life-threatening.
