The city of Flint will be adding six police officers to the force as a result of a $1.2 million federal grant. Flint Mayor Dayne Walling announced the news yesterday afternoon on Twitter.

According to Mlive, Walling said the six hires will come from those who were laid off and will be back on the job within the next month.

The grants are being awarded by the Department of Justice’s Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) program.
