The City of Flint's Department of Public Works has unveiled the Street Maintenance Division's plan for addressing winter weather issues. According to a news release, the plan calls for the city to be divided into six areas which will be serviced at the same time during a winter weather emergency which would allow for citywide coverage.

Trucks will be deployed based on anticipated snow accumulation and roadway priority levels. They roads will also be divided into four priority levels of importance for removal which will be based on traffic volume.

In addition to the new routes and areas, the plan also includes a number of other upgraded services including having GPS trackers installed on plow and salt trucks to record operating date which will be analyzed at the end of the season.
