In a news conference earlier today, City of Flint officials confirmed they were rejecting the final water offer submitted by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department and are moving forward as a partner with the Karegnondi Water Authority (KWA).

In a news release from the Genesee County Drain Commissioner's Office they say the decision for Flint to receive their drinking water from the KWA has "now been vetted by the Department of Treasury, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Environmental Quality.

The Genesee County Drain Commissioners Office provided documents relating to the decision to reject Detroit's offer and why the KWA is the best financial option for both Flint and Genesee County. Those can be viewed here: Final KWA Decision.05.01.13.

Construction on the pipeline is expected to later this month or in early June.
