Angry Mom Hires Plane to Fly Nasty Message Over Wall Street

At lunchtime on Tuesday, New Yorkers in Lower Manhattan were treated to an unusual sight — a small plane buzzing by the Standard and Poor’s building, towing a banner that read, “Thanks For The Downgrade: You Should All Be Fired.”

Commissioned by St. Louis banker and single mother Lucy Nobbe, who paid $895 to hire the pilot, the fly-by was a reaction to the US losing its longtime AAA credit rating last Friday.

World’s Largest Photograph on Display in California

Displaying the world’s largest photograph presents a number of unique challenges for a museum, chief among them being where to put a photo that’s three stories tall and 11 stories wide. Created by a collective of six artists known as The Legacy Project and currently on display at California’s UCR Sweeney Art Gallery, ‘The Great Picture’ is not only the largest photograph ever printed, but it was also taken by the largest camera ever created.

Artist Creates Supersized Candy Sculptures [PHOTO]

Much is made of artists’ muses: Pablo Picasso had Marie-Thérèse Walter, Pedro Almodóvar has Penelope Cruz and Nicola Freeman has…candy necklaces and lollipops. The British art student sculpted humongous approximations of those and other sweets for an exhibition currently showing at the University of Wolverhampton.

Artist’s Amazing Landscape Painting Spills Out of Its Frame [PHOTO]

Installation artist Gregory Euclide took an ordinary landscape and added a 3D element so that a painted river and forest appear to spill out of the frame and into the museum in which it hangs. The painting/diorama hybrid is currently on display at New York City’s Museum of Arts and Design as part of an exhibition called “Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities.”
