Art Made From the Dust of 9/11 Attack

When the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, the surrounding streets were enshrouded in plumes of smoke and massive clouds of dust.

Artist Xu Bing collected much of this dust and ten years later has used it as material for an installation called Where Does the Dust Collect? Blowing the dust onto the floor of an exhibition space with a leaf blower, he then stenciled a zen poem into it.

Americans Are the Coolest People on the Planet, Says the Rest of the World

A survey of 30,000 people in 15 nations by the social networking site Badoo.com has found that America ranks as the world’s “coolest nationality.”

Other countries singled out for their hip nature were Brazil (second coolest overall) and Spain (coolest in Europe.) Belgium edged out Poland for least coolest nationality status.

Man Runs 50-Mile Marathon With Mouth Wired Shut

Brandon Mulnix wasn’t going to let a little thing like having his jaw wired shut get in the way of completing a 50-mile marathon.

The 32-year-old from Lowell, Michigan made it to the finish line of the 50 mile North Country Trail Run in roughly 12 hours, despite having his jaw wired shut ten days prior to fix complications from a previous injury. He was only able to take in liquid nutrition before the race.

German Prostitutes Have to Feed a Street-Walking Meter

Prostitution is legal in Germany, and subject to taxation. While the German government doesn’t have a problem collecting taxes from sex workers who operate out of brothels, getting street walkers to pay up has been tricky.

The German city of Bonn thinks they have a solution to this problem: a parking-meter like device which women who solicit on the street put $8.70 into nightly for a ticket that gives them the privilege of using the pavement.
