If you were Downtown Flint last Friday you couldn't miss the smell of burgers and the crowd of people celebrating summer in Buckham Alley. Thank you so much to the hundreds of people that spent their Friday night with us on a 100-degree day.

We had burgers from The Torch, The Laundry, Blondies Food and Spirits, Clio Roadhouse, Timothy's Pub, Wella's Kitchen in Saginaw, and The Wooden Keg.

The burgers had everything from peanut butter in the meat, to chorizo mixed in a quesadilla burger, to crispy fried onions soaked in Tequila, to Flint coney sauce. They were all delicious, but you had to pick one winner.

This year in third place was Clio Roadhouse with Derek's Overnighter burger. His burger was peanut butter infused, topped with bacon, muenster cheese and raspberry sauce on a slider bun.

In second place was The Laundry with Pat's Pastrami Deluxe. Their burger had Angus brisket chuck, home-pickled jalapenos, swiss cheese, secret sauce, and crispy onion straws on a homemade bun.

For the third year in a row, Timothy's Pub takes the Best Burger title with Maggie's Sauced Up Burger. Their burger was made with a fresh Abbotts Meats patty, bacon, chipotle Monterey Jack cheese, crispy fried tequila onions, jalapeno relish, lettuce, mayo and special sauce.

When I spoke with Theresa, owner of Timothy's Pub, she said they made multiple variations of Maggie's burger until they got it just right. They tried out different toppings, and different combos for weeks until they made the award-winning burger. You can get this years burger, or the other two award-winning burgers at Timothy's Pub year round.
