Over 300 Flint youth are expected to attend the first-ever Mateen Cleaves "One Goal. One Passion" summer basketball camps.

The comprehensive three-day camps in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint will provide a platform to encourage children to make healthy choices for their minds and bodies. The camps will focus on basic life skills including goal-setting sessions, self-esteem exercises, environmental awareness as well as health and nutrition education, character development, and basketball drills.

The camps will be led by Flint native and Michigan State Champ Cleaves and will feature a roster of professional athletes, NBA players and Spartans including the "Flintstones" Morris Peterson, Antonio Smith and Charlie Bell.

The camps are being held Tuesday, August 6 through Thursday, August 8 at Flint Northern High School. Online registration is open through Friday, August 2.
