Bobby Petrino has been fired from his job as the head football coach at the University of Arkansas. Athletic Director Jeff Long made the announcement yesterday night after a couple of weeks of high profile controversy surrounding Petrino.

Petrino's fall from grace began when he was in a motorcycle accident on April 1. The 51-year-old Petrino initially said he had spent the day with his wife. It later came out that he was with Jessica Dorrell,  25-year-old former Razorback volleyball player, and a member of his staff.

According to ESPN, Long fired Petrino for unjustly hiring his mistress and misleading his boss regarding her hiring and her presence at the accident. Petrino had declined medical attention and when police arrived to the scene, Dorrell had already left. It was reported that Petrino even gave Dorrell, who was engaged at the time, $20,000.

Petrino was 21-5 over the past two seasons.
