Baker College of Flint is set to host the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Leadership Conference on its Flint campus this Friday.

Nearly 500 area high school BPA student members will participate in the event, competing for regional awards in more then 50 categories under four primary classifications including: financial services, administrative support, information technology and management, marketing and human services.

Some of the participating schools in the area include Davison High School, Flint Northwestern High School, Flint Southwestern Academy, Flushing High School and the Genesee Area Skill Center.

Business Professionals of America is a national career and technical student organization with 23 state associations, more than 2,300 chapters and 43,000 members. The Michigan BPA has 170 chapters and more than 4,600 members.

Finalists at Friday's event are eligible for the State Leadership Conference to be held in March in Grand Rapids followed by the National Leadership Conference in April in Indianapolis.
