The Tom Sumner Program on Flint's News Talk 1470 WFNT blends Tom's background in non-profit management, entertainment and broadcasting with a quirky sense of humor and love for old fashioned radio to shape witty conversations with community leaders from business, politics and the arts. Tom Sumner was born and raised in Flint. He traveled the Midwest in the 70’s and early 80’s as a full-time musician playing drums for recording artists “The Diamonds.” “The Drifters.” “Freddy (Boom-Boom) Cannon,” “Del Shannon,” and many others. He was Executive Director for the Center City Association of Greater Flint, The Flint Children’s Museum and New Leash On Life in Los Angeles. Sumner returned to Michigan in 2007 and started a morning show at Kettering University’s student run radio station WKUF LP 94.3 FM and has three books of humorous essays “All I Wanted Was A Haircut,” “A Little Off The Top” and "Just Part It In The Middle."
